The German international’s expiring contract has sparked a high-stakes pursuit, forcing Leipzig to accelerate extension talks as European giants prepare to swoop for the marauding left-back.

RB Leipzig could have a battle on their hands to keep David Raum beyond the end of the season, with Juventus reportedly joining Manchester United in monitoring the club captain's situation.

According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Juventus are interested in Raum and could make a move if the German international fails to agree to a contract extension with Leipzig.

Manchester United are also continuing to monitor the left-back, meaning Raum's future could become one of the more interesting transfer situations around Leipzig as his current contract approaches its final months.

The Red Bulls, however, are not sitting back and waiting to see what happens.

The club has already confirmed its intention to extend Raum's contract. His current deal expires next summer, and sporting director Marcel Schäfer has made it clear that Die Roten Bullen want to keep their captain at the club.

"Of course there will be discussions with David and his agent. We want to extend his contract,"

Marcel Schäfer said earlier this month.

That leaves Raum in an increasingly important position as the club tries to protect one of the most established members of their squad.

The 26-year-old joined Leipzig from Hoffenheim in 2022 and has since become a central figure at the club. He took over the captaincy from Willi Orbán in 2025 and has established himself as one of the leaders of Martín Demichelis' side.

His importance is not limited to the dressing room either.

Raum remains Leipzig's first-choice option on the left and has continued to provide a significant attacking outlet from the position, contributing goals and assists while also taking responsibility in possession.

That combination has naturally attracted attention, particularly with his contract situation making him potentially available next summer.

Juventus' reported interest adds another layer to a situation that Manchester United had already been monitoring. United were linked with Raum during the summer as they looked for reinforcements at left-back, with the German ultimately remaining in Leipzig. Recent reports suggest the Premier League club has not completely moved on from the possibility of signing him.

For Leipzig, the priority is therefore straightforward: reach an agreement before the situation turns into a genuine transfer battle with the risk of losing their captain for free.

The club has already made its position clear. Raum is their captain, an established starter, and a player they want to keep. But until a new contract is signed, Juventus and Manchester United have a reason to keep watching.

And with Raum entering the final year of his current deal, the coming months could determine whether Leipzig retains their captain or eventually has to consider offers for one of their most important players.
