Internal unrest grows as Martín Demichelis faces a season-defining gauntlet, but the Red Bulls are dismissing rumors of a sentimental reunion with their former Champions League mastermind.

Julian Nagelsmann will not be returning to RB Leipzig despite the growing pressure surrounding Martín Demichelis.

According to Sport Bild, recent rumours linking Leipzig with their former coach are unfounded. Dino Toppmöller has also been ruled out as a candidate should the club eventually decide to make another change in the dugout.

That does not mean everything is calm at Leipzig.

Demichelis remains under close scrutiny after a difficult beginning to the season, but there is still an important distinction between evaluating the coach and actively preparing to replace him.

For now, Leipzig are doing the former.

Nagelsmann Is Not The Solution

Nagelsmann would inevitably be linked with Die Roten Bullen once questions emerged over Demichelis.

He knows the club, coached Leipzig between 2019 and 2021 and led them to a Champions League semi final before Bayern Munich paid around €25 million to take him to Munich.

But Sport Bild reports that a reunion is not currently under consideration.

Toppmöller, another name who could naturally enter the discussion because of his previous Leipzig connections, is reportedly not a candidate either.

That leaves Demichelis in an interesting position.

There is pressure without, at least for now, a concrete succession plan.

Demichelis Still Has His Chance

After the 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen, Leipzig had decided against making an immediate coaching change. The decision was to continue with Demichelis while expecting a clear response after the international break.

Sport Bild's latest information points in the same direction.

There is reportedly internal unrest and Demichelis is being watched critically, but his dismissal is not yet a concrete possibility.

That distinction is important heading into Saturday's meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Leipzig have won three and lost three of their opening six competitive matches under Demichelis. Their home performances have offered encouragement, particularly the 5-0 victory over Hamburg, but defeats against Werder Bremen, Como and Leverkusen have prevented any real stability from developing.

Now Comes The Real Test

Frankfurt is only the beginning.

PSV Eindhoven arrive three days later for Leipzig's first Champions League home game of the season. Bayern Munich follow before Demichelis takes his team to the Bernabéu to face Real Madrid.

That sequence was already going to provide the clearest assessment yet of where his Leipzig project stands.

Now it carries another layer.

Die Roten Bullen are not preparing to hand Nagelsmann his old job back. They are not lining up Toppmöller either. And there is no indication that Demichelis is about to be dismissed.

But the pressure surrounding him is real.

The next four games allow him to make sure Leipzig does not have to start looking for alternatives at all.
