German giants are scouting the Portuguese winger as Sporting CP demands a massive €60 million release clause, forcing the Bundesliga's elite to weigh potential against a record-breaking price.

RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have sent scouts to watch Sporting CP winger Flávio Gonçalves in person, according to reports from Portugal.

The three Bundesliga clubs are tracking the Portuguese youngster, but Sporting have made their position clear: any interested club must meet his €60 million release clause.

According to A Bola, Sporting are also considering increasing that clause to €100 million, potentially making a future transfer considerably more expensive.

Bundesliga Interest Moves Beyond Initial Monitoring

The interest in Gonçalves is more concrete than simply adding another name to a scouting shortlist. Representatives from all three Bundesliga clubs have reportedly travelled to Portugal to assess the winger in person, an indication that his performances have attracted attention beyond Sporting's domestic league.

For Leverkusen, Gonçalves could represent another investment in the club's next generation of attacking talent. Simon Rolfes has already demonstrated a willingness to move early for promising players, with Ibrahim Maza and Christian Kofane among the clearest examples. However, Sporting's €60 million demand would put Gonçalves in an entirely different price category.

Leipzig have their own reasons to follow his development. The club has invested heavily in explosive, technically gifted wide players, with Antonio Nusa and former Leipzig winger Yan Diomande illustrating the type of attacking talent they have sought to develop. Gonçalves would fit that broader recruitment profile, although the reported asking price would make any potential deal a significant financial commitment, even if the club was willing to spend €50 million on Said El Mala just a few weeks ago.

Dortmund's involvement adds competition, but the immediate advantage belongs to Sporting. The Portuguese club has no apparent intention of negotiating below the release clause, leaving all three Bundesliga sides with the same question: whether Gonçalves has shown enough to justify an investment of that magnitude.

Sporting Demand €60 Million

The biggest obstacle is Sporting's valuation.

The Portuguese club are reportedly unwilling to negotiate below Gonçalves' existing €60 million release clause.

That would already represent a substantial investment for any of the Bundesliga clubs.

A possible increase to €100 million would further strengthen Sporting's position and potentially discourage interested teams from pursuing a deal.

Crucially, the two figures refer to different scenarios: €60 million is the reported current clause, while €100 million is a potential future figure.

Sporting's stance suggests they are under no immediate pressure to sell.

A Difficult Decision For German Clubs

The question for Leverkusen, Leipzig, and Dortmund is whether Gonçalves' potential justifies such a significant financial commitment.

All three have experience developing young players, but paying €60 million for a prospect would require considerable confidence in his ability to become a major first-team contributor.

That makes further scouting and evaluation particularly important.

For now, Gonçalves remains a player attracting serious attention rather than the subject of an advanced transfer negotiation.

Sporting hold the contractual advantage, and the interested clubs must decide whether their admiration is strong enough to justify meeting the Portuguese side's demands.

From here the stage only gets bigger.
