RB Leipzig have secured the signing of highly rated French centre-back Abdoul Koné from Stade Reims, completing a long-term deal for the 21-year-old as part of their continued investment in young defensive talent.
Koné will now join up with RB Leipzig ahead of the new season after completing the remainder of the campaign with Reims, where he continued his development as a regular starter. The move was agreed earlier, with Leipzig finalising the transfer in advance before his arrival in Germany this summer.
The French defender has been regarded as one of the more promising young centre-backs in his age group over the past seasons. After progressing through the Reims system, he made his Ligue 1 debut during the 2023/24 campaign in a 1-0 win over Marseille, marking his first step into senior top-flight football.
From there, Koné gradually established himself within the squad, before becoming a more consistent presence following Reims’ relegation to Ligue 2.
