According to reports coming out of England, Celtic are leading the chase to sign two in-form strikers in the summer.

One thing that has become abundantly clear over the course of this season is that Celtic's squad is nowhere near good enough and needs a revamp. The likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, and a few others have been instrumental over their time at Parkhead. But they might have reached the end of the road at the club and a change of scenery might be best for all parties involved.

One of Celtic's biggest problems at the moment is the lack of players capable of finding the back of the net. Other than Benjamin Nygren, nobody has scored consistently for the Hoops this season.

Celtic did go out and sign two strikers in the winter. Tomas Cvancara was brought in on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach. Junior Adamu arrived on a temporary basis from SC Freiburg.

Unfortunately, it does not look like either is a natural goalscorer who will solve Celtic's issues in front of the net. Now, it is up to Martin O'Neill to find a way to squeeze out wins until the end of the season, and hopefully, win the league title race.

In the long run, Celtic need to bring in more quality. Fortunately, it looks like they have already started their search for reinforcements. They have not one, but two, forwards on their radar.

One of the mistakes Celtic might have made with their striker recruitment in the winter is that they did not sign ones who were amongst the goals. It looks like they might be aiming to rectify that in the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are leading the pack of clubs following Plymouth Argyle duo, Lorent Tolaj and Bim Pepple.

Tolaj is 24 years of age and has scored 18 goals this season, 14 of them coming in League One. On the other hand, his 23-year-old strike partner, Pepple, has scored 11 times across all competitions.

Celtic appear to have both on their radar at the moment. Of course, that does not guarantee that they will try to sign the duo together in the summer transfer window.

It is very possible though that Celtic will need to sign multiple strikers in the summer. Considering how things have started, it is hard to imagine that they will take up the option to buy for either Cvancara or Adamu.

Kelechi Iheancho is the most proven striker they have, but he has struggled with both form and fitness. It is unlikely that the one-year option to extend his contract will be taken up by Celtic.

In that scenario, Celtic will have little to no depth up top. Signing two strikers who already know how to play with each other might not be a bad idea in such a situation.
