Graham Potter has been tipped to be a contender for the Celtic managerial job, set to be vacant in the summer when Martin O'Neill leaves.

Celtic FC Roundtable Round-up: Loss vs Hibernian review, Saracchi leaving?

It remains to be seen if Martin O'Neill is able to turn things around and guide Celtic to some silverware by the end of this season. The Northern Irishman has managed to squeeze out results for the most part, but following the defeat at home at the hands of Hibernian, there are fresh question marks over the Hoops' credentials in this title race.

In the long run, O'Neill will not be the Celtic manager, whether they win the league or not. He is interim boss until the end of the campaign, and at 73 years of age, it is hard to foresee if wanting to extend that stay, no matter how things turn out between now and May.

Celtic have been linked with a few different managers already. Ange Postecoglou was the top pick in the eyes of many fans, but the Australian has made it very clear that he does not intend to return to Parkhead even though he is appreciative of his time in Glasgow.

Roberto Martinez, the current Portugal national manager, has been suggested as another option. He has worked with Shaun Maloney in the past, and rumours suggest his post could be offered to Jose Mourinho after the World Cup.

Jens Berthel Askou could be an outside pick after enjoying a fantastic season with Motherwell. He has them playing an attractive brand of football while also having the best defence in the league. It has to be said that the 43-year-old is overdelivering on all expectations. But could he deal with the pressure of life at Celtic Park?

Amid all this, a new name seems to have emerged on the rumour mill. According to Football Insider, Graham Potter is set to be considered as a potential option for Celtic’s next permanent appointment.

Potter is currently the manager of the Swedish national team. He was brought in on a short-term deal until March, which will automatically extend if they qualify for the World Cup.

Of course, Potter has been loosely linked with a move to Glasgow on more than one occasion in the past. He does have a ton of experience of managing in the Premier League, which could help him deal with the pressure of the Celtic job.

That being said, there will be similar questions about Potter's ability to deliver at Parkhead. In the past, we have seen him excel at Brighton & Hove Albion, where there was not a ton of pressure and he was given time.

On the other hand, when he went to Chelsea and found himself in a different environment, he proved to be a complete flop and was sacked in less than seven months, after picking up just 12 wins in 31 games.

His following spell at West Ham United was not much better. He managed West Ham United for just 25 games, and won only six of them. So, while Potter would represent a high-profile appointment, there are serious doubts about whether he would be the right one for Celtic.
