The Scottish FA have made an official announcement regarding the upcoming Scottish Premiership game between Celtic and Hibernian.

Celtic FC Roundtable Round-up: Luke Graham to Rangers? Robbie Keane to Crystal Palace? Celtic vs Hibernian preview

The dust has somewhat settled on mid-week's 4-1 defeat at the hands of VfB Stuttgart. It would be safe to say that Celtic were no match for the Bundesliga side on the night. But all we can do at the moment is turn our attention to domestic competitions.

Next up for Celtic is a game against Hibernian. Hibs currently sit at fifth in the Scottish Premiership table.

Ideally, one would place Celtic as heavy favourites. This has not been just another season, though. It is almost impossible to predict which version of the Hoops will show up.

Martin O'Neill's side needed to rely on goals in added time to win against 11th-placed Kilmarnock and 12th-placed Livingston in recent weeks. So, there are no easy games for the Hoops at the moment. The best they can hope for is finding a way to pick up all three points, which, to be fair, they have done more often than not.

The Scottish FA have officially announced that Matthew MacDermid will be the referee on the day. He will be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Chris Rae. Grant Irvine will be on VAR duty with Ross Hardie as his assistant.

Refereeing in Scotland has always been an issue. So, the fans will be hoping that no controversial decisions are made on the day which end up having an impact on the overall result of the game. The best officials are those who you don't even notice.

For Celtic, there are a lot of things to be worried about going into this matchup. The team have struggled throughout the season, and injuries have not made it any easier for them.

O'Neill has been successful in squeezing out results and deserves a lot of credit for that. It is a lot more than what Wilfried Nancy managed, losing six out of his eight games in charge. Even before that, Brendan Rodgers was struggling and by the time he quit, the Hoops had fallen eight points behind Hearts in the title race.

If Celtic are to have any hope of winning the league title this season, they have the perfect man in the hot seat.

Despite Hearts sitting atop the table right now, it appears that they are starting to feel the pressure already and have frequently dropped points lately as a result of it. In the end, it is very likely that it will come down to Celtic and the Rangers, which is remarkable considering how inconsistent both of them have been.
