Celtic still have a lot on their plate this season. They are trailing Hearts by two points in the league. In the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park, they will face St Mirren, who beat them in the League Cup final. It has been a tough campaign so far, but Martin O'Neill can still bring home two pieces of silverware.
In the summer, it will be up to the board to revamp the squad. Quite clearly, they have been gradually weakened since Ange Postecoglou's departure, when the Hoops were without a doubt the best team in Scotland.
Right now, they are struggling to compete against even mid-table teams in the Premiership, often relying on late heroics to get over the finish line. That cannot be the case next season as well, no matter how this one ends.
Interestingly, Celtic appear to be looking closer to home when it comes to picking out transfer targets. That might not be a bad idea. They will be getting Premiership-proven players rather than making project signings from outside leagues who have flopped more often than not.
Elijah Just of Motherwell is someone who has been linked with a move to Celtic in recent weeks. And his Parkhead audition could not have gone much better as he scored for Jens Berthel Askou's side.
Motherwell were very much in the mix at the weekend and often looked like the better team until giving away a penalty and having a man sent off, while the score was tied at 1-1.
That was Just's seventh league goal of the season. The New Zealand international winger also has six assists to his name.
With the Celtic transfer rumours growing in recent days, especially after his goal against O'Neill's side, Just's agent, Gustaf Grauers, has come out to clear the air a bit.
Grauers told The Celtic Way: "I talk to Eli on a regular basis, in fact I spoke to him today.
"He knows that in this world of football, you get recognised if you do well. However, he does not want to have that conversation with me; his entire focus is on Motherwell and the World Cup this summer.
"He trusts that I take care of everything outside the pitch so he can focus on it. So right now we don’t talk about any other clubs than Motherwell and he is fully committed and focused on ending the season in the best possible way with his team mates."
Well, that is the answer that you would expect from a player's agent. Motherwell are still in a great spot in the league. Just is also expected to be part of the New Zealand team at the World Cup this summer.
That being said, behind the scenes, one would expect there to be potential moves being made regarding a summer transfer. Celtic would not be the only club trying to sign the Kiwi winger if he does end up leaving Motherwell, that is for sure, on the back of his impressive campaign.
