When the two Glasgow giants met at Ibrox last weekend, they could not be separated. It had looked like the Rangers were going to run away with it after taking a 2-0 lead within the first 30 mins. Martin O'Neill's side showed character and turned it around after the break though, thanks to goals from Kieran Tierney and Reo Hatate, earning Celtic a draw.
That means that when Celtic and Rangers meet again at Ibrox this weekend, there will be added intrigue surrounding the result. There must be a winner this time around, as it is a Scottish Cup game. Do not be surprised if it is another narrow contest though.
Of course, Rangers will have the home advantage. But for the first time in a long time, the away team will have a significant supporter presence in a Glasgow Derby, thanks to Scottish Cup rules.
The Broomloan stand has been allocated for the travelling fans. So, if you miss the atmosphere of past Glasgow Derbies, this is one to keep an eye out for.
A lot was made of the team of officials and some of their decisions coming out of the previous Glasgow Derby as well. Many believe that Celtic deserved a second penalty on the day.
Well, the Scottish FA have put in a completely fresh set of officials for this meeting between Celtic and the Rangers. None of the five from last weekend's match will be involved in officiating this one.
According to the Scottish FA's official website, Don Robertson will be the referee on the day. Ross Macleod and David Roome will be his two assistants. Andrew Dallas will be on VAR duty with Matthew MacDermid assisting him.
As we always maintain, the best kind of games are those in which the refereeing decisions do not end up having any impact on the overall result. So, we will be hoping that this one is of the same nature, with the winner being decided by the quality of the performances that the two teams put in on the day.
Celtic have a lot to worry about going into the game. They will have to be a lot better than they were the last time around, if they want to get a win at Ibrox.
Far too many of Celtic's games in recent weeks have been narrow wins. Let's hope that they can spring up a surprise at Ibrox and give the supporters a comfortable watch for a change.
The biggest issue that O'Neill has right now is the lack of an out-and-out goalscorer. Without that, it is pretty difficult to win games of this nature. Just think of the names that have been decisive in this fixture in the recent past. Moussa Dembele. Odsonne Edouard. Kyogo Furuhashi. The Hoops simply do not have a forward who will win it for them at this moment. So, they will have to try and find other solutions.
