After Enzo Maresca's out-of-the-blue departure on New Year's Day, 18 months into his time at the club, Chelsea looked to sister club RC Strasbourg for his replacement and appointed Liam Rosenior.
Overall, it has been a decent start to his tenure in SW6. He has managed eight games so far, winning six of those and losing two. It's just a shame those defeats were the most important of all the games - the two Carabao Cup semi-finals against rivals Arsenal.
Nevertheless, it's always important to progress in the FA Cup, and the 3-2 win over Napoli in Naples was crucial to avoid two extra games. Had the team not come from behind to win in that game, then Rosenior would not have got a full week on the training ground until March.
Owing to the hectic schedule, the 41-year-old has only managed three of his eight games in the Premier League, not even 50%. In those three games, Chelsea have come out winners every time, beating three fellow London sides in Brentford, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United.
As a result of this form, Rosenior has been recognised by the league with a nomination for the manager of the month award, alongside Michael Carrick of Manchester United, Sean Dyche of Nottingham Forest, and Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth.
Truth be told, the league wins haven't been totally convincing. Many people left Stamford Bridge dumbfounded by how Brentford hadn't come away with at least a point, and possibly more.
Meanwhile, Palace certainly created the better chances early on at Selhurst Park, and Estevao's goal came from a totally misdirected backpass. Then, West Ham really should have been out of sight before Chelsea had the chance to get back into the game.
Nevertheless, Rosenior's in-game management has been very good, and he has had to rotate the squad a lot in such a tight schedule. So he certainly deserves plenty of credit himself, and you can't argue with 3 wins out of 3, particularly with the form before that.
Many fans often say they do not want their club's manager to win this award as it is said to bring a "curse", with form then dipping the following month. Realistically, it is a myth that got out of hand a long time ago. Chelsea certainly wouldn't be any worse off for Rosenior winning this award.
