It has been explained how Abdellah Ouazane could help Ajax solve an issue on the left wing if the Amsterdammers do not sign Simon Adingra permanently.
During the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Mika Godts for a reported €55 million, including bonuses.
Following Godts' departure, Ajax assessed the market for replacements and held talks over a deal to sign Noa Lang, who was reportedly their top target. That transfer failed to materialise, though, reportedly due to Napoli's asking price.
On deadline day, Ajax completed the signing of Simon Adingra on loan from Sunderland, with a buy option reportedly worth €16 million. The Ivorian winger moved to the Stadium of Light from Brighton and Hove Albion but struggled to find form before being loaned out to AS Monaco for the second half of the season.
Adingra has not had the best start to his Ajax career either. He signed for the club with an injury, meaning he missed the first few games. He finally came on as a substitute against NEC Nijmegen to make his debut, but has been out of action since, reportedly due to an injury.
So far this season, Oscar Gloukh has started on the left wing for Ajax in the majority of games. Gloukh has shown signs of promise, but his end product has been quite poor at times. Abdellah Ouazane has also played on the left wing and has made a very positive impression.
Ouazane could be a long-term solution
Journalist Johan Inan has opened up about Ajax's situation on the left wing for Algemeen Dagblad.
Inan explains that even if Adingra returns from injury and finds form, it will be quite difficult for Ajax to sign him permanently. That means it is likely Ajax will enter the market in 2027 to sign a new left winger.
However, according to Inan, Ajax may not need to sign a left winger next year as they already have Ouazane. The Moroccan international may be the best option for Ajax on the left wing in the coming years.
Ajax need to show trust in Ouazane
Ouazane has shown that he has the ability to develop into a regular starter at Ajax. With less than two years left on his current contract, Ajax need to start working on extending his contract. By showing Ouazane that they trust him to play a big role on the pitch, it could help in convincing him to sign a new deal at the club.
If Ouazane is going to be Ajax's first-choice winger on the left, they would then definitely need to sign a right winger. Ouazane likes to move into central areas with the full-back holding the width, so Ajax would then likely need a right winger who can hold the width for balance.
Ajax's current options on the right wing are Viktor Tsygankov and Steven Berghuis, who both like to move into more central areas, as opposed to staying wide.
