Abdellah Ouazane made his debut for the Moroccan national team against Gabon in a 2-0 win for the Atlas Lions. The 17-year-old came on in the 76th minute.

Ouazane was called up to the Morocco squad for the ongoing international break after an impressive start to the season for Ajax. He has not played a large amount of minutes, but has made a massive impact in the playing time he has had so far.

While he is primarily known for being a player who thrives in more central areas, Ouazane has played mainly as a left winger for Ajax so far this season.

Julian Brandt has made the no. 10 position his own, having scored six goals in 11 games in all competitions so far. Both Ouazane and Oscar Gloukh have therefore seen the majority of their minutes come on the left wing.

Ouazane has started three games in all competitions so far this season: two in the Eredivisie and one in UEFA Conference League qualifying. In the Eredivisie, he started against PEC Zwolle and SC Heerenveen. Against Heerenveen, he scored a magnificent goal to put Ajax 2-0 ahead. In the Conference League, he started against FC Sion in the second leg and assisted two goals as Ajax won 5-3.

Speaking in the mixed zone after Morocco's win over Gabon, Ouazane spoke about making his debut.

It's crazy, because this was a dream at first," Ouazane said,

"I watched these players on television and now I'm on the field with them. It's amazing.

"It is a dream come true for a seventeen-year-old boy.

"The first day I came here, the boys were so nice to me. They help me a lot. Hopefully, I can repay them with special things on the field."

Ajax have a group of extremely exciting young players coming through right now. In addition to Ouazane, Ajax have Aaron Bouwman, who has a very high ceiling. He does have weaknesses defensively, but he is outstanding on the ball and is very progressive, both through his passing and ball-carrying. 

Dies Janse is another very talented central defender. He has recently signed a new contract with Ajax after an impressive loan spell at FC Groningen last season.

Ajax also signed Jofre Torrents from Barcelona in the summer. He has not yet played, but is highly regarded by many.

In midfield, Ajax have Jorthy Mokio, who has consistently shown glimpses of how brilliant he is. 

Rayane Bounida is another exceptional talent. He has not yet played for Ajax's first team this season, but has played for Jong Ajax as he continues to rebuild fitness after an injury.

This group of young players, in addition to all the experience Ajax signed during the summer transfer window, means Ajax have a very nice balance of youth and experience in the squad. The foundations have been laid to be very successful over the next two to three years, at least.
