PSV Eindhoven’s 4-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam had more than Sven Mijnans’ first hat-trick for the club.
Several details observed around the match have prompted a closer look at Peter Bosz’s tactical setup, especially after a gruelling run of fixtures that included Ajax away and Shakhtar Donetsk at home in the Champions League.
According to a message from De Telegraaf journalist Jeroen Kapteijns on X, Mijnans discussed a new tactical setup that Bosz implemented in the match.
“PSV’s Sven Mijnans dismisses the suggestion that he, as a striker, scored three times against Sparta. Attacking we played with three tens. Guus on the right, me in the middle and Paul Wanner in the middle. In that role, you have to try to be enormously dynamic and move around a lot. I quite liked that.”
That flexibility was particularly evident in Mijnans’ performance, with the midfielder repeatedly arriving in dangerous positions and ultimately finding the net three times.
