Potential Replacement for Jerdy Schouten?

Darko Nejasmic has emerged as a name of interest among PSV supporters, with some fans suggesting that the NEC midfielder could be an ideal solution to Peter Bosz’s problems in central defence.
PSV captain Jerdy Schouten is expected to remain unavailable until the beginning of 2027, leaving Bosz without an important option at the back. Nejasmic was subsequently mentioned by supporters as a possible replacement, particularly because of his ability to combine composure in possession with defensive strength.
The Croatian attracted attention following NEC’s 2-1 home victory over Olympiakos on August 11, 2026. Dick Schreuder’s side went on to reach the Champions League play-offs, where they were eliminated by Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt. NEC are now competing in the Europa League.
One PSV supporter, posting on X under the name @DoedelzakPSV, suggested the midfielder could fit Bosz’s requirements.
“Idea: wouldn’t Nejasmic be a good replacement for Schouten? I know it’s a midfielder, but that player can both play football brilliantly and defend. And Bosz is looking for a ball-playing central defender,” the supporter wrote.
Another fan, @Nygel_93, also called for PSV to make a move, suggesting that technical director Earnie Stewart should be prepared to spend €10 million on the midfielder.
However, Nejasmic’s future at NEC remains uncertain. According to Voetbal International reporter Sander Janssen, the club have held several discussions with the Croatian over a contract extension, but he has yet to commit. His current deal is due to expire next summer.
Whether PSV share their supporters’ interest remains unclear.
