PSV Rule Out Malik Tillman Return Over €35m Price

PSV have not given up on the idea of Malik Tillman returning to Eindhoven, but the financial demands involved make a deal difficult.

According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink, the Dutch champions would “certainly” have wanted Tillman back but cannot afford a transfer fee in the €30-35 million range.

Tillman, 24, joined Bayer Leverkusen after his spell at PSV, but Elfrink notes that the American has not enjoyed a particularly strong year in Germany. That situation could potentially make him available before the transfer window closes.

However, Leverkusen are currently looking for a permanent sale rather than another temporary arrangement.

Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg also reported that Leverkusen are prepared to consider an “exceptional offer” for the attacking midfielder. Tillman’s release clause was reportedly set at €35 million last summer, when Leverkusen activated it.

That figure remains well beyond what PSV are currently prepared to spend, meaning a return to the Eredivisie champions would require a significant change in the financial conditions.
