PSV Talent In The Spotlight At Curaçao As Dick Advocaat Makes Contact

PSV talent Shuryjano Cornecion has emerged as a player on Curaçao's radar after head coach Dick Advocaat made contact with the Jong PSV midfielder.

Advocaat, who previously coached PSV, confirmed in an interview with NOS that he has spoken with Cornecion about potentially representing Curaçao.

The 21-year-old is not the only young player being monitored. Advocaat has also been in contact with AZ players Ro-Zangelo Daal and Elijah Dijkstra, as well as Arsenal youngster Demiane Agustien. None of the four have yet represented Curaçao.

Advocaat understands why players at that stage of their careers may prefer to wait before making an international decision.

“We see that players of 21 or 22 years old now choose the Netherlands national team, or they wait until they come into view there. I can also understand that some of the boys still want to wait a little longer.”

The presence of Advocaat has also influenced another international decision. Sontje Hansen has opted against continuing with Curaçao following Advocaat's appointment.

The coach was direct when discussing the situation.

“Then you have to leave, because that's how it works in football. He probably thought he should have played more; then he should have just done his best. It's his decision, so I don't really have much trouble with that.”

For now, Curaçao continue to assess their options, with Cornecion among the PSV talents being considered for the national team.
