The Eredivisie champions aim to hijack Feyenoord’s deal for the NEC starlet, sparking a high-stakes transfer battle as the window enters its final, frantic days.
PSV have reportedly opened talks with NEC over Sami Ouaissa, with the Eindhoven club potentially looking to hijack Feyenoord’s agreement for the 21-year-old winger.
PSV are continuing to explore the market with the transfer window entering its final stages, and NEC attacker Sami Ouaissa has emerged as another name on their radar.
According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV still have “several irons in the fire” as they look to strengthen the squad over the next 10 days. The name of Ouaissa has now entered the conversation, with Voetbalzone also reporting that the Eredivisie champions have been in contact with NEC.
The interest could have significant implications for Feyenoord. The Rotterdam club had already reached an agreement with Ouaissa earlier this summer and viewed him as a potential replacement for Anis Hadj Moussa.
However, Feyenoord's plans have been complicated by the fact that Hadj Moussa remains at the club. The Algerian would have to leave before Feyenoord could complete the deal for Ouaissa, potentially giving PSV an opportunity to move ahead of their Eredivisie rivals.
Ouaissa, 21, has attracted considerable attention after establishing himself at NEC. Lille also showed interest in the winger recently, although no agreement was reached.
PSV's approach could therefore trigger another transfer battle between two of the Netherlands' biggest clubs.
There is, however, an additional complication, as relayed by PSV Inside. The relationship between PSV and NEC may still be affected by the circumstances surrounding Kodai Sano's move to Eindhoven.
Kodai Sano has now been a PSV player for ten days, following the Eindhoven club's agreement with NEC over the transfer of the Japanese midfielder.
The move brought an emotional end to Sano's time in Nijmegen. After PSV and NEC reached an agreement, the 22-year-old decided not to feature for his former club in their Champions League qualifying match away to Olympiakos, which ended 0-0.
According to information from Elfrink, NEC is reportedly still not satisfied with PSV's approach and handling of the Sano transfer. Should tensions between the clubs persist, they could influence negotiations regarding Ouaissa.
For Feyenoord, PSV's intervention represents a potential setback after the club had already agreed personal terms with the player. Their inability to move forward while Hadj Moussa remains in Rotterdam has left the door open for PSV.
