The Dutch giants aim to revolutionize their historic home to deliver a modernized, high-capacity arena funded by a massive multi-million euro investment.
PSV are preparing for a major transformation of the Philips Stadium, with plans to increase its capacity to at least 52,000 spectators by 2030 as the club looks to complete an ambitious redevelopment of its home ground.
The proposed expansion is expected to cost between €350 million and €400 million, with the first renovation work scheduled to begin immediately after the current season, provided the project receives final approval.
The plans would significantly increase the stadium’s capacity and mark another major development for PSV, who are working towards a modernised home capable of accommodating a larger number of supporters.

PSV general director Marcel Brands previously discussed the proposed redevelopment on Ziggo Sport’s Rondo, outlining the timetable the club hopes to follow.
Brands explained that the project could take between two and two and a half years to complete once work begins, although the club must first make a final decision on whether to proceed.
“If everything works out, it should take two or two and a half years for it to be completely ready,” Brands said on 14 September.
He also revealed that PSV are expected to make a definitive decision towards the end of the year, with approval allowing construction to begin as soon as the season concludes.
“The schedule is that by the end of the year there will be a go or a no-go decision. If that go decision comes, we want to start immediately after the season. That is a very big wish,” he added, as relayed by PSV Inside.
The decision will be crucial in determining whether PSV can follow their intended schedule and reach the 2030 capacity target.

One of the most significant aspects of the redevelopment will be the work on the stadium roof.
Under the current plans, the Philips Stadium is expected to be without a roof from 2027, before a new roof is installed in 2029. The temporary removal forms part of the wider renovation programme as PSV work towards completing the upgraded stadium.
The proposed timeline means the stadium could undergo substantial changes over several seasons before the redevelopment is finished.
With a target capacity of at least 52,000, the project would represent a major step in the development of PSV’s home ground. The planned investment of up to €400 million underlines the scale of the ambition, although the final timetable remains dependent on the club’s approval decision.

For PSV, the expansion is about more than simply increasing the number of seats. The redevelopment is intended to deliver a substantially upgraded Philips Stadium while allowing the club to accommodate more supporters.
The first major milestone is the expected go-or-no-go decision towards the end of the year. If the project receives the green light, PSV hope to begin work immediately after the current season, with the wider renovation programme expected to take two to two and a half years.
The club’s stated objective is to have a stadium capable of welcoming at least 52,000 spectators by 2030, completing a transformation that would reshape one of Dutch football’s most recognisable grounds.
