PSV Eindhoven have learned their eight opponents for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League League Phase, with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid among the headline fixtures. Peter Bosz’s side will play four matches at home and four away.

PSV’s route through the 2026/27 Champions League is now clear after Thursday evening’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland, with the Dutch champions handed a demanding but varied schedule.

Peter Bosz’s side will face Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, Shakhtar Donetsk and VfB Stuttgart at the Philips Stadion, while their four away assignments will take them to Real Madrid, FC Porto, RB Leipzig and Viking FK.

The opening League Phase fixtures will be played between Tuesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 10, with UEFA expected to confirm the exact fixture schedule for PSV on Saturday.

The standout tie is undoubtedly PSV’s trip to the Santiago Bernabéu to face Real Madrid. At home, meanwhile, Atletico Madrid provide another heavyweight opponent.

The 2027 Champions League final will be staged at Atletico’s Estadio Metropolitano on June 5, 2027, meaning Diego Simeone’s side will have the unusual motivation of potentially reaching a final on their own ground.

PSV’s other home fixtures against Club Brugge, Shakhtar and Stuttgart provide a different challenge, while the trips to Porto, Leipzig and Viking will test Bosz’s team in contrasting environments.

The competition continues under the expanded format introduced in 2024/25. The traditional group stage has been replaced by a single League Phase featuring 36 clubs.

Each team plays eight matches against eight different opponents. The top eight qualify directly for the last 16, while teams finishing ninth to 24th enter a knockout play-off. Positions 25 to 36 are eliminated from European competition.

Several PSV players had already revealed their preferred opponents before the draw.

Ruben van Bommel selected Bayern Munich away and Barcelona at home, with both clubs having connections to his father Mark van Bommel. Kodai Sano, meanwhile, wanted Liverpool at home and Arsenal, as relayed by PSV Inside.

Guus Til also published his ideal draw, selecting Inter Milan and Barcelona from Pot 1, Club Brugge and Roma from Pot 2, Bodø/Glimt and Villarreal from Pot 3, and Viking FK and Sabah from Pot 4.

Sergiño Dest’s selections also included Inter and Viking, while the American opted for Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Sporting Lisbon, Villarreal, Fenerbahçe and AEK Athens, among his other choices.

The actual draw has now given PSV a very different challenge, with the first competitive European tests of Bosz’s campaign set to arrive in September.
