After some heavy media speculation regarding the player in recent days, Alvaro Carreras has addressed the rumours with a post on his social media

At the moment, it just feels like one thing after another when it comes to Real Madrid.

Not only are results poor, both domestically and in Europe, but things appear to be tense at the club. There’s talk of the dressing room being unhappy with Kylian Mbappe, Dani Ceballos falling out with Alvaro Arbeloa, and so on and so forth.

In the last day or so, left back Alvaro Carreras has been in the headlines. It has been reported by The Athletic that Arbeloa is unhappy with the player’s attitude and professionalism. It was noted how Fran Garcia came on instead of him to replace the injured Ferland Mendy against Espanyol.

Meanwhile, another report from The Athletic suggested that Antonio Rudiger got into a “heated argument” with a first team player in April. They did not say who, but many fans have suggested it was Carreras.

Well, a statement from the Spanish left back on his Instagram account tells us what we need to know: “In recent days, certain insinuations and comments about me have emerged that do not correspond to reality.

My commitment to this club and to the coaches I’ve had has been unwavering since day one, and it will continue to be so. Since I returned, I have always worked with the highest level of professionalism, respect, and dedication. I have fought very hard to fulfill my dream of returning home.

Regarding the incident with a teammate, it was an isolated matter without importance that has already been resolved. My relationship with the entire team is very good. !Hala Madrid!"

Well, the last part of the statement is probably the most interesting, as it more or less confirms it was him who got into a confrontation with Rudiger. The rest of it is pretty generic and what you would expect a player to say whether he is telling the truth or not.

Furthermore, the fact he was not brought on against Espanyol, despite the injury to Mendy, is pretty telling. He was brought for north of 50 million Euros last summer, and is now third choice left back?

Sure, you could partially attribute it to his poor performances this season, and say that it is no deeper than that. But, really? Seen as worse than Garcia, who has largely been very poor for Real Madrid since he also rejoined the club a few years back. Not good either way.
