Real Madrid's Federico Valverde opens up about his fight with Aurelien Tchouameni.
Real Madrid was involved in a scandal due to its players' behavior a few weeks ago, when the season had not even ended.
Unfortunately for Real Madrid, they ended the season in the worst possible way, with internal problems: President Florentino Perez called new elections for the presidency, criticism of the coach, and, to top it off, two players got into a fight that ended in blows.
At the beginning of May, the Uruguayan Federico Valverde and the Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni were involved in an argument that escalated to the point that Valverde ended up in the hospital after hitting his head on a table after Tchouameni hit him, which caused a wound on his scalp.
After the club initiated an investigation into the matter, witnesses stated that Valverde was the one who started everything, as the dispute had begun the day before.
The fight was leaked to the media, and so much controversy arose that both players were obviously financially sanctioned and issued apologies.
Now the 27-year-old player has revealed how he experienced that experience. In words collected by GOAL, Valverde admitted it was very difficult but that, throughout the process, he received help from the fans and the club itself.
I feel very good. I have had the support of the fans and the club. These obstacles help you grow.
And although the lack of respect that took place inside the dressing room did not cost him a suspension, only financial reprisals, he admitted that the experience he lived with the Frenchman will help him mature and improve his role as captain of Real Madrid.
I trust that this will make me a better captain in the coming years.
Valverde also attributed the fatigue and frustration he had been experiencing with the club's bad season to his emotional outburst.
It is not the first time the Uruguayan has been the subject of media headlines for unnecessary drama, as on repeated occasions he has been branded as lacking emotional control.
Due to the incident and his bad behavior, the midfielder has been linked to a departure from Real Madrid, and although it most likely will not happen for a good while, it remains to be seen if he truly reflects after the fight.
For now, the young Real Madrid star is preparing for international commitments after being called up to the Uruguay national team for the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking about his desires for this new edition of the World Cup, he commented that his greatest dream is to lift the World Cup, highlighting the importance of having an optimistic spirit, the same spirit that allowed his national team to reach the semifinals in 2010.
