Today, Tuesday the 8th of September 2026, we have had official confirmation that four different Real Madrid players have been nominated for the Ballon d'Or.

Next month, in the English capital of London, the winner of the 25/26 Ballon d’Or award will be announced, with a number of Real Madrid players hoping to be in the mix for the winner.

The last time a Los Blancos player won the award was back in the 21/22 season, after Karim Benzema’s historical campaign that helped the team win both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. So, there is a great hope that that wait will end this year.

Well, it is certainly a possibility, as four Real Madrid players have been nominated for the award - Marc Cucurella, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr are all among the nominees.

Now, it is worth mentioning that Cucurella has been nominated for his body of work at Chelsea, and with the Spain national team, where he played every single minute as they won the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

However, despite a difficult collective season for the club, Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius have been nominated for their seasons with Real Madrid, as well as the World Cup where all three excelled in their own way with their respective national teams.

Having been the top scorer in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, Mbappe then won the World Cup golden boot too, scoring 10 goals and in the process becoming the competition's all time top scorer in the process.

Meanwhile, Vinicius was clearly the catalyst for Brazil, and things may have turned out a lot differently for the Selecao had club team mate Endrick converted his pass when the score was still 0-0 against Norway in the round of 16.

As for Bellingham, well he became the first English player to ever score seven goals in one World Cup tournament. His 98 second brace against Mexico at the Azteca will live long in the memory, and he then also scored two goals to drag England through against Norway in the quarter finals.

It doesn't feel like any omitted Real Madrid player can have many complaints. Federico Valverde was fine last season, but not his usual self, and it was a disastrous World Cup with Uruguay. So, he would have done well to make the top 30 in all truth.

Hopefully this time next year, we can talk about a few more nominees after a successful season for Real Madrid. Let's wait and see.
