Jose Mourinho has asked Real Madrid to sign Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni, who is also a Barcelona target. The move could affect Nico Paz's future at Real Madrid.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho as the new coach of Real Madrid also brings new signings to reinforce the squad after a season plagued by disappointments for the fans.

Despite already knowing some of the new additions to the White club, such as Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, and Marc Cucurella, Mourinho apparently is not satisfied yet and has asked for another signing who has caught his attention.

According to the latest media reports, Inter Milan central defender Alessandro Bastoni is the Portuguese's favorite, so his arrival at the Merengue side could shape the future of Nico Paz, Real Madrid's attacking central midfielder.

Paz's future was much discussed at the end of this season, and while some speculated that his story would continue to be written for one more season at Como 1907, the club to which he was loaned, others affirmed that he would not leave Real Madrid, as the board seems to hold the Argentine in high regard.

In any case, both players have a very similar market value, with Bastoni, 27, at around €70M, so an agreement between the Italian and Spanish clubs could be the key to the Italian wearing the white jersey.

Since being hired, Mourinho has demanded the signing of a versatile figure who can play as a central defender, a wish that was fulfilled with the signings of Cucurella and Konate. Both players are very fast and balance the team with their adaptability, but it seems that he is still not entirely convinced.

Alessandro would be ideal to play under the Portuguese's command due to his tactical leadership and would fit perfectly in a back three or four, the latter being the most used in the club.

Considered a pillar of the Nerazzurri defense, in the 2025/26 season, Bastoni intervened in 44 matches, contributing with three goals and six assists.

His departure could cost them a lot, especially because on repeated occasions both the Italian club and the board have shown that they have all their appreciation placed on Bastoni, but his departure could also be an opportunity for them to take advantage of the situation economically, and according to reports, they are not closed to the possibility of selling him.

Real Madrid, of course, is not the only suitor that the Italian had knocking on his door. FC Barcelona also noticed his great potential, and a few months ago, they had him in their sights, but Inter made it clear they would not accept less than €70M, which was non-negotiable.

The opportunity is there, and if Jose Mourinho wishes to reinforce his defense with a player with experience and a renowned reputation to back him up, he could insist to Real Madrid for the player, and very probably Inter will not resist letting him go if the player is also in agreement.
