According to high level reports on Tuesday evening, a Real Madrid first team player is on the verge of departing the Spanish capital for a new adventure

Safe to say, it promises to be a very busy summer transfer window for Real Madrid.

As per highly credible reports, the club are very close to the signings of Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate. The former will sign for €20m thanks to a release clause in his Inter Milan contract, and the latter will be a free signing having ran down his contract at Liverpool.

Meanwhile, there will be plenty going the other way too. Veterans Dani Carvajal and David Alaba will depart the club for free, as has already been made official, with Dumfries and Konate set to be their replacements.

Well, one more player who is set to depart the Spanish capital this summer is midfielder Dani Ceballos. Indeed, as according to journalist Matteo Moretto, the Spanish midfielder is set to join Dutch giants Ajax for €6m.

The fee is very small in today’s game, but with Ceballos turning 30 this summer and with just one year remaining on his contract, a big fee was never likely. Especially with just 850 minutes played across all competitions last season.

For all intents and purposes, it seemed as if there were big issues between the midfield and head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. So, with a new manager coming in, you’d think perhaps a fresh start would be given. However, the truth is that his days at Real Madrid was always numbered, no matter who was in the dugout.

There had been talk of a move back to Real Betis, but the suggestion was the Seville based side could not afford a move to bring him in. Well, if Ajax can get a deal done for €6m, you can’t help but wonder just how small Betis’ budget must be.

Well, although it is not much money, it’s still better than nothing. The €6m can go towards the signing on fee of Konate. Money well spent in that case. There was no tangible affect made by the midfielder last season, so in reality, as harsh as it may sound - he is not someone who needs a direct replacement. You might as well give his 850 minutes to someone from La Fabrica.

No doubt all Real Madrid fans wish Ceballos well on his new adventure in Amsterdam. With all due respect to the league, he should do pretty well, and his very sound technical ability should be appreciated over there. Let's wait and see.
