Real Madrid modern day great, right-back Dani Carvajal, is set to move to Getafe as a free agent, according to highly credible Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano's report on the 6th of October.
Last summer, club legend Dani Carvajal departed Real Madrid having spent 23 of the last 24 years at the club.
Since then, he has been without a club, despite his high level CV with Los Blancos and the Spain national team over a number of years. However, that is now set to change.
Indeed so, as Italian transfer journalist has used his "Here we Go" catchphrase to report that Carvajal is set to sign for fellow La Liga and capital based sided, Getafe.
Earlier on today (Tuesday, the 6th of October), we aggregated the news that the player and club were in talks, but that there were still some details to iron out. Well, based on this, it looks as if they have now been sorted.
So, let's look at key details for your diaries: when will Getafe play against Real Madrid? The first meeting between the two sides will take place on match day 18 of the La Liga season, at the Bernabeu on the 3rd of January (or at another point that weekend). That will be Carvajal's first return back home since leaving.
Then, the reverse fixture at Getafe will be on the 18th of April, or again, at another point that weekend. So, those are two dates to keep in mind as a fan of Los Blancos for the reunions with the 34-year old.
Getafe's next game is actually against FC Barcelona this weekend, though, considering that Carvajal's last appearance of any note was for Real Madrid against Athletic Club back in May, it feels like a stretch for him to be able to feature in that one. Certainly in the starting XI anyway - perhaps he could feature in a cameo off the bench. But let's see.
No doubt that every fan of Real Madrid wishes the club legend very well in his new adventure across Madrid. With Getafe in such close proximity, there may be fans of the club that go and watch him play in his new home. Their home game against Atletico Madrid on the 22nd of November could be one to look out for.
So, there we have it, Carvajal is back in La Liga, and could well play against Los Blancos for the very first time in his career. A move that makes a lot of sense for him - stay in the league, stay in the capital, and so on and so forth. Excited to see how it goes for him.
