Real Madrid icon Pedja Mijatovic spoke recently on El Larguero, praising Jose Mourinho's work during the Roma match, where he showed his "old wolf's instinct" in making the substitutions needed for the comeback.

Real Madrid legend Pedja Mijatovic recently spoke on El Larguero about the epic comeback the merengues achieved at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma. He praised the decisions made by Jose Mourinho, specifically the substitutions made in the second half that changed the team's face, which was being completely outplayed by the Italians.

"The first half had me a little worried, even more so knowing how Roma plays. They always play man to man, and that means a great deal of wear over the 90 minutes. Mourinho, knowing that the first half was weak, was already trusting that in the final stretch of the match they would not keep up that rhythm," the former footballer said.

"Mourinho has been fantastic, waiting for the right moment and even substituting players who could get angry, like Vinicius, to bring on people who come off the bench with more desire. That has changed the match. There are many things Real Madrid has to improve, and Mourinho knows it," he added.

He insisted that this match leaves quite a few lessons for the Portuguese coach, despite having dominated a large part of the encounter. "This match teaches Mourinho several options for players who can have prominence without needing to be starters. And coming back from this score is an injection of confidence for those same players, who do not have as many minutes. Mourinho knows clearly who he can trust, and at what moment he can trust them... And who he has very much alive to come back in a match."

It is true that many fans feel that despite the victory, this match greatly exposed the weaknesses it has in midfield. Because during the first 45 minutes, the Valverde-Tchouameni duo was completely erased by Roma and Gian Piero Gasperini's strategy. Something that worries Madridismo, since if the Italian team exhibited you in such a way, what could happen against Barcelona?

El Clasico is around the corner, and the last stop is this Sunday at the Bernabeu against Sevilla, a match that is obligatory to win, since it would mean arriving at the Camp Nou with the six-point gap that exists today between merengues and blaugranas. Let's remember that the match will be one of "six points in dispute"; if Madrid wins, it moves to only three points away, but if it loses, the distance with the Catalans would begin to be quite large even though there is still a lot of the season left ahead.
