Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho are considering the option to let go of the defender following the arrival of Marc Cucurella.
There is little doubt regarding Real Madrid's strong rebuild this summer as they have already announced the arrival of Jose Mourinho as their new manager, and the Portuguese manager already means business.
Los Blancos has seemingly given Mourinho the freedom to build his team according to the demands of the current situation at the club, and certainly, the Whites have started their transfer window with urgency.
Madrid has now officially announced the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, with three more announcements set to come in the coming days. Bernando Silva, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries have reportedly reached an agreement with Los Blancos.
Now, as per the reports, Mourinho is looking to clean house before raiding the transfer market within the upcoming days.
The departures of Dani Carvajal and David Alaba were announced prior to the end of the previous campaign, and apparently, a few more players could be on their way out of Los Blancos this summer.
One of them could be Alvaro Carreras, whom Los Blancos only brought in last summer from Benfica for a transfer fee of €50 million.
As per a recent report from Ekrem Konur, with the arrival of Cucurella as a new left back, Madrid and Mourinho are now open to hearing offers for Carreras this summer.
The 25-year-old was brought in under former manager Xabi Alonso and played a crucial role under the young manager during the start of the previous campaign, but his form seemed to deteriorate during the final phases of the campaign.
A few factors are seemingly at play with the recent development. First and foremost, Cucurella's arrival at the club might see Carreras' role getting diminished during the new campaign, and more importantly, as per the reports, it is Mourinho who has given the green light for the probable sale of the left-back.
As for the recent interest from Chelsea, Cucurella's departure has now created a big void for the Blues to fill in this summer, and Alonso's appointment as their new manager has seemingly acted as fuel to spread the fire further.
Despite Los Blancos' long-term contract with Carreras, which is set to expire in 2031, the Blues can have the talented full-back at a price of around €30 million following his mediocre performance for Los Blancos during his debut campaign.
Even if the Blues reach an agreement for Carreras, Los Merengues will have two more back-ups for Cucurella, as Fran Garcia and Ferlan Mendy will be keen to showcase their talent during pre-season.
