According to reports from the Spanish press, Real Madrid have plans to tie down one of their superstar players, Jude Bellingham, to a long term contract.

So far this season, some would argue that Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham have been the two standout performers for Real Madrid.

Both have looked very sharp to start the season, helping the team with goals and assists, but also with their overall performances, both in and out of possession.

Well, on Thursday afternoon, we aggregated the news from Madrid media outlet Diario AS, who reported that Guler was set to be rewarded with his fine form with a new long term contract until 2031, though other sources have said the deal will be until 2032. Either way, it looks like he will be putting pen to paper soon.

It appears he will not be the only one doing so either. Indeed not, as it is being reported by Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez that Real Madrid are also working on a new contract for Bellingham.

He states that there is “optimism” about the possibility of a contract extension for the Englishman, with a contract until the summer of 2032 being considered.

It’s mad to think that Bellingham has already been in the Spanish capital for (a little over) three years, and yet in six more years he would still only be 29. He has been around for so long, and is yet still so young at the same time. It has already been seven years since he made his breakthrough into the Birmingham City first team at just 16 years of age.

At the moment, the attacking midfielder’s contract runs out until 2029, so it is almost certainly something that would have been visited by next summer, where he would have only had two years remaining on his deal.

As touched on earlier, Bellingham has had a brilliant start to life under Jose Mourinho, and this new contract would be deserved recognition, not just for this season but for his body of work at Real Madrid in general.

Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023, he has made 145 appearances and scored 48 goals, a phenomenal record. How aesthetically pleasing would it be to sit on 150 appearances and 50 goals. Though if he ends up on more than 50 in 150, there will be very few complaints in Los Blancos circles.

There is a lot of excitement about the long term future of the club with the likes of Bellingham, Guler, Yan Diomande, Dean Hiuijsen and so on and so forth. There is the hope that they will shape the next era of Real Madrid.
