Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe addresses comparisons to Lionel Messi amid the 2026 World Cup.

Real Madrid players had a very complicated season, but if there is one player we have to talk about, it is the one who had the most individual recognition: forward Kylian Mbappe.

Currently, Kylian, 27, is busy helping the France national team at the 2026 World Cup, and, to no one's surprise, he has been named the best player of the match on several occasions.

Mbappe has been a fundamental part of France since he was called up for the World Cup in Russia in 2018, where he was considered the best young player of the tournament at age 19.

Since then, the Frenchman has not stopped, quite the opposite; he currently already tops the list of all-time tournament scorers with 18 goals scored in the tournament and is one goal away from reaching soccer legend Lionel Messi.

Comparisons between the two players are always ongoing, and precisely because of those comparisons, Kylian Mbappe has had to come out and state what he thinks about them.

Speaking recently to the media, the young forward assured that he has no intention of continuing to fuel the discussions surrounding personal records, much less the supposed competition the media has placed on him.

"I am convinced that Leo will score goals again, but I do not focus on that. I focus more on our rivals and the remaining competition. I want to make history in my country and make people feel proud," he declared.

Kylian has also been facing a campaign of mockery and hatred since before the end of the 2025/2026 season, when he was called 'dictator,' as some say that whatever the forward orders is always done, whether on the national team or at Real Madrid.

On this, Mbappe has tried to handle the mockery lightly, always remaining humble and assuring that what matters is the team, not personal achievements.

"It is not just me, it is the whole team. There are things more important than soccer or the World Cup. Unity is the DNA of this group. The coach is not alone, whatever happens after."

Although not everything has been smooth sailing for him in the World Cup, especially if we take into account how badly he fared in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the forward has always kept his spirits high to redeem himself.

Mbappe will continue to be a target for fans in comparisons with other players, but no one can deny that he is an icon of modern soccer. As long as his skills lead him to continue accumulating achievements and trophies, the Frenchman will continue leading his team and his national team toward the greatness he has always aspired to.
