It appears as if the squad numbers for Real Madrid's 25/26 summer transfer window signings have been confirmed, based on a recently uploaded video.
After a terribly disappointing trophyless 25/26 season, Real Madrid moved very quickly in the summer transfer window to recruit Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva.
There is still hope that more signings will be made this summer, including a marquee transfer such as Michael Olise from Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich, but it has certainly been positive so far.
Like any other player, new signings have squad numbers, and it appears as if we know those of the new players. Indeed so, as a video uploaded by YouTuber Alex Moreno has appeared to show the shirts (and thus numbers) of the new signings in the Real Madrid dressing room.
Based on this video, it can be confirmed that the new numbers are as follows: 2 for Cucurella, 4 for Konate, 19 for Silva, and 20 for Dumfries. For those with OCD, Cucurella wearing number 2 is pretty annoying. That should be for right-backs, and left-backs should wear number 3 (currently worn by Eder Militao, which is poor in itself). Disappointing.
Left backs sometimes wear 12 too, but that is currently being worn by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who due to La Liga's strict policy on shirt numbers, could not wear the number 66 that he had always worn at boyhood club Liverpool. Perhaps a move to Serie A would have been more beneficial in that regard.
Anyway, other than that, pretty fine. Some people think defensive midfielders should wear 4, but I personally prefer it for central defenders, and the other two are just pretty normal, although it should be Dumfries wearing 2 if anyone. So there is that, but still. Everyone else appears to still have the same number that they had as of last season, from what we can tell anyway.
Meanwhile, Endrick also appears to still be wearing 9, with the number not taken by anyone else since he left for his productive loan spell at Ligue 1 side Lyon, where he did enough to get himself in Brazil's World Cup squad. Though the less said the better about how that went in the end.
So, there we have it, just to quickly recap the shirt numbers of Real Madrid's new signings (so far): 2 for Cucurella, 4 for Konate, 19 for Silva, and 20 for Dumfries. Let's hope there are more new signings to get shirt numbers as soon as possible. Stay tuned here at Roundtable for all the news.
