In a recent interview, Yan Diomande discussed his move to Real Madrid, including his first conversation with Jose Mourinho and his lifelong dream of playing for the club.

One of the most important players, or, at least, one of the ones from whom the most is expected of all those who arrived during this summer, is, without a doubt, Yan Diomande. At just 19 years old, Real Madrid is expected to have signed the future star of world football. The young winger recently gave an interview to SportyTV in which he spoke about what it feels like to play for the best club in the world.

In it, he mentions that he feels proud and happy because he has made his dream a reality. He also commented: "There is no club bigger than Madrid. They spent a lot of money on me, but I have no pressure. Why should I be afraid? I am going to do what I can on the field, and God will do the rest."

Regarding how he reacted when he found out about his signing, he mentioned: "It was like a dream because there is no bigger club. From the moment I found out, I did not sleep. I could not believe it. I spoke with Juni, and then I spoke with the boss. I was surprised because he spoke French. Mourinho got up at 5 in the morning to talk to me. That means he is important. When Madrid calls you, you cannot say no, so I said: 'If they want me, I will be there.'

"Right after I arrived, he told me: 'I promised you that you were going to be part of my team, and here you are.' And I told him: 'I am happy to work with you because you are the best.' I can learn a lot from him; he is the right coach to continue with my development. I am ready to die for him."

To cap it off, he also emphasised his connection with Leganes, since, in his own words, it was the only team that allowed him to show his quality at a professional level. He started with the reserve team but quickly earned a promotion to the first team. He debuted in LaLiga, playing 10 matches and scoring 2 goals, which quickly caught the attention of RB Leipzig's scouts, who paid his €20 million release clause.

After establishing himself in the first team of the German club and being one of the most disruptive players in the Bundesliga during the 2025/26 season, Real Madrid decided to sign him for the modest price of €140 million, which makes him the most expensive signing in the history of the most decorated club on the planet. Will it be a smart move or a sporting failure like Eden Hazard? Only time will tell.
