Real Madrid move to secure versatile Granada standout Oscar Naasei for their Castilla squad, prioritising the physical defender’s long-term development as they finalise a permanent transfer from Andalusia.

According to a report by media outlet Diario AS, Real Madrid are heavily linked to Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei Oppong. The 21-year-old player is currently under contract with fellow Spanish side Granada, but is now set to join Real Madrid Castilla on a permanent transfer.
Media outlet AfricaSoccer.com also confirmed the report, stating, “The 2005-born defender has attracted the attention of the Spanish giants because of his physical qualities and potential for further development. According to information reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid have moved well beyond the initial scouting stage and are now progressing towards an agreement for Naasei.”
The website further stated, “The proposed transfer would form part of Real Madrid’s long-term planning rather than an immediate addition to the first team. The club would intend to place Naasei with Real Madrid Castilla, allowing him time to adapt to his new surroundings and continue his development within the reserve set-up.”
Born in Accra, Ghana, Naasei joined his current club in 2023 at the Juvenil level after progressing through the academy of Ghanaian club Emmanuel City. The defender, capable of playing both as a centre-back and a right-back, eventually made his debut for the first team of the Andalusian club on 27 October 2024, and has since made 43 official league appearances for Los Rojiblancos, scoring one goal in the process.
In addition to his club career, Naasei has also made a solitary appearance for the senior squad of the Ghana National Football Team.
