Bayern's Dayot Upamecano acknowledges the daunting challenge, as the team prepares for a "very, very big match" against PSG's star-studded attack.
A key man for Bayern Munich this Wednesday against Real Madrid, Dayot Upamecano knows that an even more difficult match awaits the German club against PSG in the semifinal.
Author of a stratospheric performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg, Dayot Upamecano will still have plenty to do in two weeks against Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal.
The French international for Bayern Munich knows it; the Parisian test will be on a completely different level. Asked about it after the match, the Les Bleus defender expects a very complicated one.
"PSG, it is not going to be an easy match. They have a great team, with a great coach, and they play football. We expect a very, very big match," Dayot Upamecano said, well aware that the most difficult part awaits Bayern Munich in this Champions League.
An observation that also applies to the German defense, which struggled against the Real Madrid of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., and which will face a new full-scale test against Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, and Bradley Barcola by the end of April.
Liverpool was knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by PSG for the second consecutive year, this time in the quarterfinals.
PSG boss Luis Enrique stopped at the Canal+ microphone to debrief the match, savor the moment, and remind everyone who was still the boss of Europe.
"If you just analyze what happened last year, you can know what type of match we were going to play," he said.
"But today I am very proud because, especially in the first half, we controlled the match, we played in the opponent's half, it is a very difficult thing to do in this stadium, in this atmosphere, and we had a very good first half."
"And in the second half, there was suffering, as we knew before the match, but we did what you have to do when you don't have the ball. They took a lot of risks, and we knew that sooner or later, we were going to have counterattacks, and we scored the two goals. I think over the two matches, we deserved to qualify."
