PSG coach Luis Enrique has transformed Lucas Berlando from a modest defender to a very solid defensive midfielder.

Luis Enrique has become a gold maker. By repositioning Lucas Beraldo, the PSG coach has transformed a rather modest left-back into a top-level defensive midfielder. This does not go unnoticed.

The Paris Saint-Germain coach never lacks ideas, and it must be said that they are sometimes brilliant. Because frankly, who could have thought just a few weeks ago that a player like Beraldo, 22, whom many announced as leaving this summer, could become an undisputed starter in a position that is not his own.

Having left the left flank of the Parisian defense, the Brazilian player has been shining since Luis Enrique placed him in a No. 6 role. For Andres Onrubia, correspondent for the Spanish outlet AS and Cadena Ser radio, this choice by the Parisian coach is incredibly wise.

"Beraldo almost no longer counted for PSG. Since Luis Enrique converted him into a midfielder, his level has been exceptionally high. With the ball, he continuously generates, bringing quality in short and long passes and dictating the rhythms wonderfully," Onrubia explained, who adds that it is now on the European stage that this choice by Enrique will have to be validated.

In L'Equipe, if Hugo Delom is not yet completely carried away, he still admits that, once again, the Parisian coach has hit the mark with a player capable of bringing a lot to Paris Saint-Germain since this repositioning.

"The spectators of Angers-PSG may have seen, for the duration of a match, the reincarnation of Andrea Pirlo or Sergio Busquets. We are pushing it a little (barely), but Lucas Beraldo confirmed this Saturday that he can be a solution at the defensive midfielder position (...) You would think that the Parisian technician, 15 months after repositioning Ousmane Dembele as a No. 9, finds at least one 'genius' idea per year," Delom said.

For his part, Luis Enrique acknowledged that Beraldo had an incredible match at Angers and confirmed that this position is clearly his.

"It is very difficult to have a player who plays with one or two touches of the ball and who improves every action. He has a very bright future in this position. He is a player who can play multiple positions. He showed it," said the PSG coach, while Lucas Beraldo described it as "the best match of his career." It will still be necessary to wait for the two-legged confrontation against Bayern Munich to see if the Brazilian Busquets of PSG holds up.
