According to reports on Sunday evening (the 28th of June, 2026), a very in demand winger has given preference for a move to PSG this summer transfer window.
Last season, the PSG linked Yan Diomande was one of the breakout stars in Europe - if not the biggest - with his eye catching performances in the German Bundesliga for RB Leipzig.
In the Bundesliga alone, he scored 12 goals, provided eight assists, created 17 big chances and completed 3.6 successful dribbles per game.
This lead to the interest from PSG, as well as a number of massive clubs in other leagues, such as Liverpool in the English Premier League just to give one example of the interest from elsewhere.
Well, it looks like the player himself has decided where he would want to go in the event of a potential move this summer. Indeed so, as David Ornstein of The Athletic is this evening reporting that Diomande has chosen PSG if he were to leave. He reports that the winger believes in the project, wants to win trophies regularly, and the Ballon D’or.
Wow, certainly a huge development. This would be an absolutely crazy signing, particularly in the event that Bradley Barcola departs this summer - which could now be escalated as a result of this news.
In fact, it could be a domino effect. With this report that Diomande has chosen to sign for PSG - and not Liverpool or someone else - could mean that the Merseyside effort ramp up their efforts to bring in Barcola.
It will be interesting to see how much a deal would cost. The teenager has four years remaining on his contract in Eastern Germany, so there is no immediate pressure to sell. He has been playing well at the World Cup too, which would only add to the price tag.
A player who can play on both sides, score goals, create chances and take his man on, well, that is worth its weight in gold, and we can assume that the fee will reflect that.
As a native French speaker, he should settle quite easily. He actually plays with Desire Doue’s brother, Guela, for the Ivory Coast national team. Although it would be a very expensive signing, it would be incredibly exciting - let’s hope something can be done, though we will likely have to wait until after the World Cup.
