According to reports from the French media, Premier League side Liverpool are set to make one final bid to try and sign PSG winger Bradley Barcola this summer.
In each of PSG's last two games, against RC Lens in the Trophee des Champions, and Rennes in Ligue 1, both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye have been left out of the match day squad by manager Luis Enrique, amidst heavy links with a move away for both players.
Despite a lot of transfer talk over the summer, particularly since the FIFA World Cup ended, things had gone a bit quiet over the past few days. But now, there is again something to update you with.
They mention that the gap in valuation between the two clubs has now narrowed, and the length of the saga is not abnormal considering the amount of money involved. They mention that, whilst a 115 million Euros bid had been rejected by PSG, Liverpool have been waiting to see if the Parisians would lower their value before submitting an "acceptable offer".
Furthermore, it is stated in the report that Barcola and his entourage "remain confident" on an agreement being reached, with personal terms sorted quite a while ago now.
Despite this, the deal is still expected to eclipse Ayyoub Bouaddi's 100m Euros move from Lille to Manchester City as the record sale of a Ligue 1 player, and also PSG's record sale, having sold Neymar to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for 90 million Euros back in the summer of 2023.
Interestingly, L'Equipe also report via GFFN that PSG turned down a single joint bid for both Barcola and Mbaye from Liverpool. They also mention that an unnamed club are leading the race for the latter.
Well, here we are. Based on these reports, and a general hunch, it feels like Liverpool will sign Barcola this window, but not Mbaye, though that certainly does not mean that the Senegalese winger will stay in the French capital this summer, given the amount of interest in him, as touched on above there.
There was a hope within the PSG fanbase that both of these deals would be sorted by now. It really does not help anyone, especially with the season now firmly underway, reiterating the desire of many within the game for the transfer window to shut before the season starts.
