Lucas Hernandez shines as PSG beat FC Barcelona 4-2 in the Champions League, neutralizing Lamine Yamal and earning praise from Luis Enrique for his standout performance.

On Tuesday night, Paris Saint-Germain left-back Lucas Hernandez shone with his performance in the win over FC Barcelona (4-2) in the Champions League group stage.

The Parisian club didn't have it easy during the match. In the first half, Barcelona dominated the field, and although the intensity didn't drop in the second half, PSG found a way to score 4 goals against the Spanish giant.

One of the players who stood out Tuesday night was Frenchman Lucas Hernandez, who started in coach Luis Enrique's starting eleven for the third time this 2025/2026 season.

Before the match began, the Parisian fans were surprised to see Hernandez start such an important Champions League match, since PSG No. 21 is usually part of the squad rotation.

But Lucas's faith in his ability to deliver a performance worthy of the greats was justified, and his performance has been praised by fans and the press, especially for neutralizing Barcelona's young star, Lamine Yamal.

Lucas Hernandez scored the second goal of the match with a header in the 72nd minute, assisted by Desire Doue, another PSG player who was spectacular.

Speaking to Canal+ Foot after the match, Lucas offered a few words about how he felt during his performance. For the Frenchman, his teammate Doue was the best of the match.

"He deserves it; he is an extraordinary player. Today he showed it once again on the field. It was not an easy match; we knew it. But hey, at the end of the match, we deserved it, considering what we did on the field."

The 30-year-old player also reflected on the moment when coach Luis Enrique chose him as a starter for Tuesday night, assuring that he always tries to give his best on the field, and although he knows he does not always have the best nights, he never loses the desire to give his best, and Tuesday, for example, was worth it.

"It is true that I am not used to scoring many goals, but Tuesday night I was lucky to be able to score from that corner. It was just a group-stage match, but it was important to show what kind of team we are. Tuesday night we showed that we are a very good team," Lucas assured.

About his rival Yamal, the left back acknowledged the player's greatness, which is why he decided to stay close and play aggressively to make things more complicated for the Barcelona player, an action that the media and Luis Enrique applauded for its effectiveness.

"Lucas Hernandez is an experienced player, always ready, ambitious, and capable. We knew before the match he would do a great job. He is aggressive and, at the same time, does not commit unnecessary fouls. He had an incredible match against one of the best players in the world," Luis Enrique assured.
