As PSG begin their title defence in Ligue 1 against Rennes on Sunday night, here is all you need to know about the hosts heading into this exciting fixture.
Although PSG have already played two games in two different competitions this season, and won a trophy in the meantime, they are still yet to kick off their Ligue 1 title defence.
They will be doing exactly that tomorrow night at 20:45 CET, when they face Rennes on the road for their opening game of the league season, in what promises to be a very exciting game.
So, what do we need to know about our hosts on the night?
Last season, Rennes finished sixth in Ligue 1, which was enough for a place in the UEFA Europa League, after an excellent end to the finish under Franck Haise, whom won eight of his 12 games in charge from February until the end of the season.
In terms of incomings, the most notable signings have been English central defender Charlie Cresswell from fellow French side Toulouse, as well as another domestic signing in Adrien Thomasson from RC Lens, who was a big part of their side that finished second in the league and won the Coupe de France. They also moved to bring in forward Eliezer Mayenda from fellow Europa League side Sunderland of the Premier League.
Also, they have so far crucially kept hold of forward Esteban Lepaul, who scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season, five more than any other player, whilst also providing a further five assists.
So they look like a very serious outfit coming into this season. Some important additions, and keeping hold of their best players. Another thing to keep in mind is they had near enough nobody at the World Cup. Striker Breel Emobolo, as well as goalkeeper Brice Samba - who was selected as third choice for France - were the only players who could start tomorrow that did not have the summer off, which could definitely play a part.
Perhaps feels harsh on Lepaul that he did not go to the World Cup, considering he was the top scorer in the league, but it can only be to the advantage of Rennes that he had that time off in the summer, and a potential disadvantage to PSG.
Although the hosts are priced as the heavy outsiders for this game, it will certainly be no easy task for Luis Enrique's side, especially with a hostile home atmosphere behind their players, which we saw can have a huge hand in the game against Lens. But let's see.
