As PSG face Manchester United in Sweden on Saturday, the 8th of August 2026 in Gonthenburg, here is how Luis Enrique has lined the team up for the game.
In less than an hour's time from now, at 17;00 CET, PSG will face Manchester United in their second and final pre season game, just four days before starting the season against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday evening in Salzburg, Austria.
This game will be taking place in Gothernburg, Sweden. For the task at hand, this is the starting XI Luis Enrique has chosen; Safonovov; Boly, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Koukaba; Mayulu (c), Beraldo, Fernandez; Mbaye, Ayari, Kvaratskhelia.
Meanwhile, the bench consists of; Longoni, Cheavlier, Marquinhos, Lucea, Mendes, Abo El Nay, Vitinha, Neves, Bourdidn, Drame, Idder, Meite, Ndjantou.
Although it is just a friendly, a few interesting talking points to quickly discuss. Zabaryni and Mbaye are both named in the starting XI, despite links to Premier League side Liverpool. It may dawn upon you that Bradley Barcola - also linked to the English club - is not in the squad, but he and the other French players are not due to report to pre season training until Monday, so in this particular case, there is no correlation.
The likes of Vitinha, Mendes, Neves and Marquinhos are involved for the first time since the UEFA Champions League final back at the end of May. There will be some anticipation that they can get some minutes in the second half, in the hope of getting up to speed before the Villa clash.
Even in a friendly, it is great to see Mayulu have the responsibility of being captain and leading the boys out. Earlier this week, it had been reported that he had so far been the stand out player in pre-season, so this feels like a good reward for his hard work.
This could be the game for Zabaryni to prove his worth to Enrique. With Marquinhos now into his 30's, and the club seemingly being ok with an exit, there are opportunities for him to step up and form a long term partnership with Pacho. As mentioned above, he has been linked with a move away, but this could be a chance for him to show the gaffer what he can do.
There will be no reunion with former PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, now of United, as he suffered an ACL injury with Uruguay at the World Cup. Best wishes to him in his recovery from a brutal injury, let's hope he can get back on the pitch as soon as is physically possible.
