After recent reports had suggested his time in the French capital was over, it is now being suggested that the club legend would like to remain at the club
Although the attention and general consciousness has turned to this summer's FIFA World Cup in North America, there is still going to be plenty of focus on the transfer window for PSG, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
One player who had been linked with a move away was club captain and legend Marquinhos, with it being reported by L'Equipe that he would be allowed to depart the club, just like last summer.
Well, after last summer, the Brazilian ended up staying at PSG. And the same could happen here too. Indeed, as journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Marquinhos wants to stay.
He reports that PSS would like to sign a centre back who is also capable of playing at left back, despite the skipper wanting to stay put.
Very interesting. If Marquinhos is staying after all, and the club want someone capable of playing at left back or centre back, does that mean that Lucas Hernandez could leave? He is someone who can play at left back or centre back, so if another player who can fill both roles comes in, does that make his role redundant?
It should be said, it is admirable that the 32-year old wants to stay, well at least according to this report. He has been at the club for over a decade now, and won absolutely everything in that time, including two UEFA Champions League titles in the last two seasons.
There really is nothing left for him to achieve in the French capital, collectively as demonstrated above but also individually, having been so consistent for so long. It would be very easy for him to jet off to the Middle East and play in the Qatari league, raking up the millions in the process. He could also have a romantic return to Corinthians in Brazil.
But, his love for PSG is such that he continues to want to play here. Perhaps, with this new defender potentially coming in, we will see a reduced role next season. Not quite Presnel Kimpembe towards the end of his time at the club, but with fewer and fewer games played.
In the 25/26 season, the captain played just 14 Ligue 1 games, with 11 of those being starts. It's clear that - at his age - he was being saved for the big Champions League games, and it worked admirably. So that could be the move again next season from Luis Enrique.
Then, when we get to next summer, if he has stayed at the club, he will have one year remaining on his contract. From there, his future will certainly be interesting.
