With this summer's FIFA World Cup now over, we take a look at how the finals went for all of the PSG players representing their respective nations.
After over 100 games and over six weeks of action, this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico is now over. With that in mind, we take a look at how the tournament went for all of the PSG players representing their nations.
To begin, the five man French mafia managed to get to the semi finals, before losing to Spain, and then to England in the third place play off. Defender Lucas Hernandez did not play a single minute, whilst Warren Zaire-Emery only played around 20 minutes all tournament.
There was, however, more fruitful roles for attackers Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele. We saw Doue feature in all eight games, starting four times, scoring against Norway and asssitring against Morocco, whilst winning the all important penalty off the bench against Paraguay.
Meanwhile, Barcola also played in all eight games, starting four, with it always being one of him or Doue off that left hand side. He found the back of the net three times, against Senegal, Sweden and England, whilst also assisting against Norway.
As for Dembele, well after never scoring at a major tournament before, he found the back of the net six times, providing a further two assists and creating five big chances. He scored against Iraq, Norway (a hat-trick), Morocco and England. A very good tournament for him, certainly the best of the French players.
Let's go onto the second mafia, the Portuguese one. It was a more lowkey tournament for Portugal, who were dumped out by Spain in the round of 16. Having been an ever present till that point, many say the turning point of that game was the injury to Nuno Mendes. Vitinha and Joao Neves flattered to deceive during the finals, though the latter did score against DR Congo. Goncalo Ramos has now left for AC Milan.
Elsewhere, Willian Pacho started all four games for Ecuador, as they reached the knockout stages for the first time since 2006, but they came undone to co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca, with a 2-0 defeat in the round of 32.
Marquinhos started in all five games - as captain - for Brazil, as they were dumped out in the round of 16 by Norway, an incredibly disappointing campaign for the record champions.
Achraf Hakimi, also as skipper, started all six games for Morocco, as they reached a second consecutive quarter final, where they eventually lost 2-0 to France. He scored and assisted in the win over Haiti in the group stage, and assisted against Canada in the round of 16.
Kang-in Lee - who is set to become an Atletico Madrid player anyday soon - started all three games for South Korea, as they were knocked out in the group stage as one of the worst third placed finishes. He assisted in their opening game against the Czech Republic.
Ibrahim Mbaye featured in all four games for Senegal - albeit with just one start - as they were dramatically knocked out in the round of 32 by Belgium. He scored off the bench against France in their opening game.
What better way to finish off than with Fabian Ruiz. The PSG midfielder was part of Spain's successful triumph, as they won their second World Cup title. After starting their opening game - a 0-0 draw with Cape Verde that feels a long, long time ago now - he found himself coming off the bench for a few games, but was reinstated into the starting XI for the quarter final clash with Belgium.
He certainly repaid that faith, opening the scoring in that game, as they would eventually win 2-1. He never lost his place in the team after that, playing 62 minutes of the final against Argentina, as they eventually won 1-0 after extra time. Many congratulations to him.
