PSG targets Barcelona center-back Eric Garcia as its main summer 2027 signing, with the Parisian club favoring a deal worth around €70 million.
Paris Saint-Germain continues to work to update its squad for the future, and this time it is focused on a center-back from FC Barcelona.
The club, led by coach Luis Enrique, has remained one of Europe's best teams for more than two years, winning most of its titles and even winning the Champions League twice in a row.
The fans do not always have faith in signings intended to reinforce the team; however, most prove beneficial over time.
As an example, consider the recent signings of Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche, young players who arrived at the Parisian club this summer and have, little by little, been earning Luis Enrique's trust with their performances.
Now, as was made known on Thursday, PSG has its sights set on center back Eric Garcia of Barcelona.
According to what Le Parisien reported, in words gathered by Get French Football News, Paris Saint-Germain already has a new signing in its sights for the summer of 2027, this being its main target for next year.
Garcia appears to be the special candidate for the Parisian club, which is looking for a center-back who can also play on the flanks, and according to the outlet, he is a favorite of Luis Enrique.
It is estimated that PSG is willing to offer around 70 million euros for Eric Garcia, who currently has a contract with Barcelona until June 30, 2031.
With his club sitting comfortably in first place in the La Liga standings, Eric remains focused on his commitments with the team, keeping his starting spot since the season began.
His good performance has allowed him to slip among the favorites to keep the Spanish club standing, even though in the past he was seen struggling to earn a place in the first team. Thanks to his positive development, he had a good start with Girona FC in 2023, where he was sent on loan and later returned to Barcelona.
Since he returned to FC Barcelona in the 2024/2025 season, Eric has accumulated a total of 6 goals and 5 assists, and in this current season, he already has 559 minutes of play in La Liga.
For PSG, Garcia could mean more stability when rotating the squad, where he would probably have to compete with Ilya Zabarnyi for the position. For now, everything remains just another rumor, and it will remain to be seen how the news develops as the year progresses.
