After suffering an ACL injury against Barcelona on Tuesday night, PSG forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has taken to social media to provide everybody with an update on how he is feeling.

During the UEFA Champions League win at home to Barcelona, PSG forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered an ACL rupture in his right knee, and therefore will be sidelined for the entirety of the 26/27 season - and possibly even longer.

Simply devastating news for everybody concerned. Devastating news for the player himself, for Luis Enrique, for the fans. Devastating news for PSG, and devastating news for the Georgia national team, who will be without their star man for crucial Euro 2028 qualifiers.

Aside from the obvious physical pain, the mental aspect of things must be incredibly tough. Watching the team knowing there is nothing you can do to help must be so hard. Watching games under the lights wishing you were out there with your team mates and friends.

Despite this, Kvaratskhelia is doing his best to stay positive during this adversity. In a statement released on his Instagram account, the 25-year old had this to say: "Many people asked me about this stand, many said that if all the footballers in the world prayed, the game would end in a draw. This could be true but before every game I play I ask God to leave the field healthy but in vain.

It hasn't been a long time, but it's still on my mind - why me anyway? I have never missed anything probably I prepared for this game the best I have ever prepared for. I thought I was prepared for everything, but not, and I realize that God chose me and if I protected the players on another field, I'm ready to go through these months in labour, pain, tears.

I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always have my back, I won't let you down, I promise I won't waste a second. Thank you all for your support see you soon."

Wow, some very heartfelt words from the winger. Fair play to him for addressing the situation so quickly after what happened, whilst the situation must still be so raw and difficult to comprehend and come to terms with. That suggests a very strong character and personality.

Just impossible not to feel sorry for him, and not to feel gutted. Not just PSG fans and Georgians, but anyone who loves football. Anyone who loves watching entertaining, off the cuff players in action. To not have that player on the pitch for such a long time is a big loss for the sport in general, as well as for PSG and Georgia.

Let's hope that Kvaratskhelia has the support around him that he needs. Let's hope that he has good people around him to get him through this incredibly difficult time. What a travesty this is.

With sports science and medicine so developed now, players can often come back as good if not better than before after long term lay offs. On Monday (the 19th) we saw Dejan Kulusevski complete a pure burst down the outside for Spurs, minutes after coming on for his first appearance since May of 2025. It can be done. And let's hope it will this time too.

Get well soon, and come back stronger, Kvara.
