As a result of his simply exceptional display for PSG against FC Barcelona, PSG forward Desire Doue has been recognised by UEFA with a place in their UEFA Champions League Team of the Week.

It feels pretty insignificant now, considering the ACL injury sustained by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but on Tuesday evening, PSG did pull off an impressive result in the EUFA Champions League, as they defeated Barcelona 4-2 at the Parc Des Princes.

The truth is, it was a bitter night, due to that injury. You would much rather Barcelona had won the game if it meant that Kvaratskhelia was fit and available. For his sake and for the club's sake.

But, the past cannot be undone. So, to try and stay positive, let's remember how big a performance it was. Barcelona had won all 11 of their games in all competitions to begin the season, so this result was certainly no small feat at all.

One of the best performers on the night was Desire Doue. He opened the scoring with a superbly taken goal from outside the box, and also assisted Lucas Hernandez to make it 2-1 in the 72nd minute.

Aside from this goal and assist, the 21-year old also had 53 touches of the ball, drew three fouls, made 10 progressive carries, created four chances, and had three other shots. This all despite being taken off in the 78th minute.

As a result of this excellent display, Doue has been recognised by UEFA with a place in the Team of the Week for match day three of the league phase. The full team is; Sommer (Club Brugge); Mbuyamba (LASK), Geertruida (PSV), Carlos Augusto (Inter Milan); Foden (Manchester City), Paz (Como), Rice (Arsenal), McTominay (Napoli), Doue, Mbappe (Real Madrid), Kane (Bayern Munich).

For those wondering, it is a 352 formation to essentially try and squeeze as many stars in as possible, with the PSG man off the left hand side. In any case, very much a deserved inclusion.

Perhaps Lucas Hernandez can feel a bit aggrieved. Not only did he score a crucial goal in the second half, but he also defended very well against Lamine Yamal throughout the night. The Spaniard did not score until Hernandez was taken off, ironically thanks to a mistake from the Frenchman's replacement.

Ah well, no harm done. That game may be Doue's last on the right hand side for a while, due to the Kvaratskhelia injury. We may see him back in his more natural left sided role a lot more now, but let's wait and see what Enrique throws up for us. Onwards.
