Tuesday transfer briefing: PSG won't sign Ayyoub Bouaddi for €100M. Fabian Ruiz and Senny Mayulu extend. Liverpool and Arsenal track Bradley Barcola. Latest updates inside.
With people focused on this summer's FIFA World Cup, and tonight's semi-final between the PSG French mafia and Fabian Ruiz's Spain side, we are here to remind you of how things are going in the transfer market.
So, here is your Tuesday transfer briefing.
To begin, David Ornstein of The Athletic has reported that PSG will not join the race to sign Lille and Monaco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi this summer. He states that they are set to demand a fee worth 100 million Euros.
Meanwhile, Ornstein also reports (in the same article as the above link) that Liverpool are continuing their pursuit of Bradley Barcola and keep "actively monitoring" his situation, with Arsenal also interested, but the North London side are prioritising Morgan Rogers.
Interestingly, Fabrizio Romano quoted one of his tweets from late June regarding Liverpool and Barcola earlier on today, tweeting the eyes emoji as well as France emoji. So, make of that what you will. Romano also confirmed yesterday's news that Lucas Digne will sign a three year contract with PSG when his Aston Villa release clause is activated after the World Cup.
Elsewhere, French journalist Djaameel, via PSG_Report has reported that PSG will not recruit a midfielder this summer, unless there is an unexpected departure. He says that the club's management considering the midfield is already complete.
This marries up with him also reporting (again via PSG_Report) that Fabian Ruiz has extended his contract until June 2028, with an option to extend for a further season. He says that the contract has already been signed.
Fabrice Hawkins has also reported the same news re a midfielder and Ruiz, whilst also pointing out that Senny Mayulu has signed an extension until 2031. He also mentoned that whilst Bouaddi is appreciated by the PSG management, he was never a concrete target, and he is expected to join a Premier League club in the upcoming weeks. Ornstein mentioned Manchester City, so it could well be them, but let's see on that.
So, there you have it, the latest updates. Overall pretty positive. It is perhaps a little surprise that there will be no midfield signing - it feels like there will be a bit more of a rebuild this summer than last. However, the current midfield is just so good and there is decent depth there Ruiz, Joao Neves, Vitinha, Warren Zaire-Emery and Mayulu.
