PSG has recovered €60,000 from Kylian Mbappe after the Paris Court of Appeal ruled in its favor over precautionary seizures on its bank accounts in 2025.
After a back-and-forth over legal battles, PSG has just won a symbolic victory against Kylian Mbappé. Nine months ago, the Paris Court ordered Paris Saint-Germain to pay Mbappé around €60 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses.
According to L’Équipe, PSG has recovered €60,000. On Sept. 3, the Paris Court ordered a Real Madrid player to pay PSG €60,000 for the precautionary seizures he made on his former club’s bank accounts in spring 2025.
At the time, his conflict with PSG was dragging on, and his lawyers had several precautionary seizures placed on the club's accounts. This was a non-adversarial procedure; PSG was unaware of it when it was ordered, which allowed funds to be "frozen" pending a court ruling.
A measure intended to ensure a creditor could settle their debt, but one that did not reflect the economic reality of a powerful club like PSG. The club had, in fact, obtained the cancellation of these seizures as early as May, before being ordered seven months later to pay €60.9 million to its former player.
But twelve days ago, the Paris Court of Appeal awarded PSG €60,000 in compensation to offset the "unavailability of its cash reserves" during the 45-day period of the asset seizures. These seizures had forced the club to secure a line of credit to "meet its current financing needs," which cost it money.
The court therefore ruled in favor of PSG on this point, but rejected their claim for moral damages. According to L'Équipe, the Paris Court of Appeal also refused to award PSG damages for image and reputation, for which they had sought a symbolic €1 from Mbappé.
Frankly, this symbolic victory no longer represents anything for PSG and a Parisian fan base that are completely satisfied after having won the UEFA Champions League for two consecutive years, which was what was most demanded of and emphasized to Mbappé, something he did not achieve with the club from his city.
It would be more attractive to see PSG and Real Madrid play on a stage like the Champions League. The only time PSG and Real Madrid have faced each other in an official competition since Mbappé left Paris for the Spanish club was in the Club World Cup semifinal on July 9, 2025, when PSG crushed Madrid 4-0.
That afternoon at MetLife Stadium, Fabián Ruiz scored a brace, while Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos completed the Parisian rout. Mbappé played the full 90 minutes but couldn't make a difference.
