PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia undergoes successful ACL surgery in Doha after his injury in the win over FC Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain left winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered one of the worst injuries in the world of soccer during the Champions League match against FC Barcelona (4-2).

Last Tuesday, PSG faced Barcelona in the Champions League group stage, and although the Parisian club won, it also lost three key players.

Center back Marquinhos, forward Ousmane Dembele, and Kvaratskhelia left the match injured, with the latter suffering the worst injury of the three: a torn ACL in the 59th minute.

For context, this type of injury occurs in high-performance players. It usually requires surgery and extensive therapy to restore knee stability and movement, so recovery is often lengthy.

Practically, the 25-year-old player is already out of action for the rest of the season, since the recovery process ranges from 9 to 12 months.

Fortunately, PSG posted a short statement on Tuesday about how the left winger's injury is going. According to the club's official page, Kvaratskhelia underwent successful surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at the ASPETAR Hospital in Doha, Qatar.

For now, the Rouge et Bleu No. 7 will dedicate himself to rehabilitation little by little after his surgery. This news reassures both the fans, the people close to Kvara, and the club members, who were very distressed for the Georgian.

For Khvicha, the news of his injury hit him like a bucket of cold water, since, as he expressed a couple of days ago on his social media, he had never prepared so much for a match as he did for the one he played against Barcelona, so getting injured made him feel that it was all in vain.

But the club's jewel fortunately has a stable and very close-knit support group, since the entire PSG squad has been offering him words of support, dedicating goals to him, and celebrating the recent win against Olympique Lyonnais (2-0).

"I would like to dedicate this win to Kvara. We are very proud of him. We remain motivated as a team. But this win is for Kvara," coach Luis Enrique assured in a post-match interview.

While Kvaratskhelia recovers and watches the club from his resting space, Paris Saint-Germain prepares to face Le Havre in Ligue 1 on Oct. 30 and Villarreal CF in the Champions League on Nov. 3 without one of its star players.
