Brazil and PSG captain is facing a race against time for Thursday's game.
Captain of PSG and Brazil, who face France on Thursday in a friendly near Boston, Marquinhos was managed on Monday during the Seleção's first training session in the United States due to pain in his right thigh.
France's Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Lucas Hernandez, and Lucas Chevalier will face Brazil's Marquinhos on Thursday in a friendly at Foxborough, near Boston. A marquee matchup that will take place at 9 p.m. French time and will be broadcast on TF1. How many PSG players will be in the starting lineup?
On the French side, Dembélé and Doué have a good chance of starting this France vs. Brazil match, while Marquinhos will start for Brazil... if he is fit. While Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal) withdrew on Monday and will not be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, the PSG central defender is among the four center backs still available alongside Bremer, Léo Pereira, and Ibañez, although fullback Danilo can also play centrally.
Marquinhos, however, is uncertain two days before the match against Les Bleus, as he was carefully managed by the Seleção's medical staff on Monday due to pain in the back of his right thigh, according to a GloboEsporte journalist present with the Brazilian national team in Orlando.
The most capped player in PSG history, who has not played a single minute in Ligue 1 since Feb. 8, received a massage on the back of his right thigh before Brazil's training session, then participated in a small-sided game, before performing a defensive exercise alongside Léo Pereira.
According to GloboEsporte, Marquinhos was then called over by fitness coach Cristiano Nunes "to leave the field in accordance with the program," before briefly exchanging words with Carlo Ancelotti. Marquinhos then left the field, accompanied by a physiotherapist, to undergo the planned treatment.
If he is not injured, Marquinhos was therefore given an adapted session on Monday due to discomfort in the back of his right thigh, which could explain why he has only played in the Champions League in recent weeks with PSG. Let us hope Brazil takes no risks with him if he is not at 100%, whether against France on Thursday or against Croatia on Wednesday, April 1.
