PSG faces Strasbourg with a surprisingly short injury list, but two key starters are sidelined, impacting their lineup significantly.
Accustomed to injury lists that are, to say the least, lengthy, Paris Saint-Germain will be without only three players for this Sunday's trip to Strasbourg. But among the three players are two regular starters for the Parisian eleven.
Luis Enrique now knows which players he will be able to count on for Sunday night's Strasbourg vs. PSG match, and the list of absentees is, for once, quite short.
Far from the seven unavailable players during the previous trip to Auxerre, which ended 1-0, the Parisian coach will be missing only three players. However, that number does not tell the whole story of the management difficulties, as two important names are listed in today's medical report.
Unsurprisingly, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will not be available for this Strasbourg vs. PSG match as the Georgian "continues his treatment" after the right ankle sprain he sustained during the match against Newcastle.
It is expected to keep him out of this match and possibly the next one against OM, as an absence of eight to 10 days has been announced by the Parisian club, which is typically very cautious regarding injury durations.
The main bad surprise came from the absence of Fabian Ruiz for the Strasbourg vs. PSG. The Spaniard was seen in training on Tuesday, and a quick return to the pitch was hoped for. That will not happen as the left-sided midfielder "continues his treatment for a left knee contusion." Injured in Lisbon during the loss to Sporting, 1-2, the Spaniard will therefore miss his third consecutive match.
On the side of players returning from a long absence, Lee Kang-in is now operational after having trained with the professional group for a week, while Quentin Ndjantou, also injured with a muscular issue in late December, will not yet return as he "continues his recovery work." Still regarding young players, the new signing Dro Fernandez is, however, fit and qualified, so he could make his debut with PSG this Sunday.
Parisian Absentees for Strasbourg vs. PSG:
- Quentin Ndjantou continues his recovery work.
- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia continues his treatment.
- Fabian Ruiz remains in treatment for a left knee contusion.
