After the important win in Ligue 1 on Wednesday evening, let's look at some of the tactics that manager Luis Enrique used in this particular match up

On Wednesday evening, PSG comprehensively won their game in hand at home to Nantes, securing a 3-0 victory at the Parc des Princes and taking them four points above second-place Lens, with both teams now having played the same number of games.

So, let's take a look at the tactical tweaks Luis Enrique used during this important win.

Interestingly, we saw Lucho use Warren Zaire-Emery as a left-back in this game. The nominal central midfielder has played as a right-back on a number of occasions over the past two years, but for a right-footed player, it is a different task altogether to play on the left side.

However, the 20-year-old played very well. He was very comfortable and secure in possession and was tenacious without the ball. During the game, he made five recoveries, won 3/4 ground duels, completed 3/3 long balls, and had 86 touches of the ball despite playing for just an hour.

Once again, Enrique opted to continue the Lucas Beraldo experiment as the defensive midfielder. Owing to his good form in this role, a potential contract extension for the Brazilian international has been discussed

During the win over Nantes, he once again had a very good game in the midfield. He was able to break up play whilst also showing his ball-playing abilities, creating three chances during the game.

There was an interesting role for Dro Fernandez, who got the nod to start in this one. The Spanish youngster played as the left-sided central midfielder, but would often interchange with Zaire-Emery in build-up down that side.

This helped to create space and opportunities for Khvicha Kvratskhelia, who scored twice and nearly scored once more. This was an interesting left-hand-side dynamic and could be the move until Nuno Mendes is back from injury. Some were surprised that it wasn't Kang-in Lee who was trusted to start in midfield, but you can't say it didn't work.

All in all, three very important points that help to ease the pressure in Ligue 1. If the team had dropped points, they would have had to go hell for leather at the weekend against Angers, just days before the first leg against Bayern Munich. As it is, a bit more rotation can now be afforded. It's more of a must-not-lose game than a must-win game now. Let's see.
